AI in Real Estate: Why Realtor Experience Still Matters

AI Can Make Realtors More Efficient, But It Can't Replace Experience

Artificial intelligence is changing how Realtors work, but does having better technology automatically make someone a better agent?

I recently discussed this with Amanda Jordan on my Real Estate Riches podcast. Amanda works in Manhattan's luxury real estate market, where local knowledge, complex transactions, and strong client relationships are essential.

Our conversation reinforced something I believe strongly: AI can support our work, but experience and trust are what make us valuable.

AI Is an Assistant, Not the Expert

Amanda and I talked about how AI can help Realtors manage paperwork, organize information, and simplify repetitive tasks.

Those tools can save valuable time, but we still need to understand the information they produce.

For example, AI can help analyze comparable properties. However, it doesn't automatically understand every detail that affects a property's value.

I've used AI for property analysis myself, but I select the comparables, provide the information, and review the results.

That's how I believe Realtors should approach this technology.

Let AI help with the process, but never replace your professional judgment.

Why Market Knowledge Still Matters

Amanda's experience in Manhattan demonstrates why local expertise remains so important.

Unlike many real estate markets, Manhattan has unique listing systems and complicated co-op purchasing requirements.

Buyers may face board approvals, financial reviews, and building-specific restrictions.

An AI tool might help organize information, but an experienced Realtor understands which questions to ask and how to guide clients through those challenges.

Technology cannot replace that level of market knowledge.

Your Personal Brand Builds Trust

We also discussed how clients are changing the way they find Realtors.

Today, people research agents online, explore their content, and evaluate their expertise before making contact.

That's why I believe building a recognizable personal brand matters more than ever.

You don't need to constantly promote yourself.

Instead, share your knowledge, educate your audience, and demonstrate how you help people make informed decisions.

Amanda also emphasized the importance of maintaining genuine relationships with clients.

I agree completely.

The strongest real estate businesses are built on trust, not just transactions.

The Future of Real Estate Is Technology Plus Relationships

AI will continue changing our industry, and I encourage Realtors to learn how to use it.

But technology should give us more time to focus on people, not create distance between us.

My takeaway from Amanda's conversation is simple:

Use AI to work smarter. Use your experience to guide clients. And never underestimate the value of human connection.
