AI is moving faster than most of us can keep up with. And if you're still using it only to write emails or create social media captions, there's a lot more you could be doing with it.
I recently welcomed Carrie Soave, my personal AI coach and an experienced Realtor, to my Real Estate Riches podcast. We talked about AI agents, automation, and how these tools are changing the way we run our businesses.
One thing I've learned through working with Carrie is that using AI and building a business around AI are two very different things.
Most Realtors are familiar with ChatGPT by now. We ask it to draft an email, create a listing description, or help with marketing ideas.
Those are useful starting points, but AI agents can take things much further.
Carrie explained how AI agents can handle multiple steps in a workflow without requiring us to initiate every individual task.
Think about the time spent organizing marketing content, researching ideas, tracking performance, and managing everyday operations.
These are necessary parts of running a business, but they also take time away from working with clients and building relationships.
That's where AI agents can make a difference.
Carrie shared a great example from her own business.
Every Friday, her AI workflow researches her best-performing content, reviews competitor activity, and identifies trends across different social media platforms.
It then creates a content plan, saves it to Google Drive, and assigns her a task to review everything.
Once she approves the ideas, the workflow prepares video scripts, captions, social media posts, and other marketing materials.
It also reviews performance analytics to help improve future content.
What I appreciate about this process is that Carrie doesn't remove herself from the decisions.
She still reviews the ideas and approves what goes out.
The technology handles much of the preparation, while she stays in control of her business.
Something Carrie said during our conversation reinforced what I've been learning myself.
The goal isn't simply to use AI because everyone else is using it.
It's about creating systems that make our businesses more efficient.
I've spent time building my own AI knowledge and organizing the information that supports my business. Having the right guidance has helped me understand how to take repetitive tasks off my plate.
And that matters.
As Realtors, we have clients to serve, relationships to maintain, and opportunities to develop. We can't spend every hour managing the little things behind the scenes.
AI can help with those processes, but we still need to check its work and make the decisions that require professional judgment.
You don't need to automate everything at once.
Start by looking at one task that takes up too much of your week.
Maybe it's organizing content ideas, preparing follow-up reminders, or reviewing your marketing performance.
Ask yourself how much time you could save if part of that process were handled automatically.
Carrie also emphasized the importance of keeping your business information organized outside any single AI platform. Technology changes quickly, and your systems should be flexible enough to change with it.
I believe the Realtors who learn to use AI thoughtfully will have more opportunities to focus on what matters most.
Because the real advantage isn't having more technology.
It's knowing how to make that technology work for you.
